Blues Bank £££ as Beatson & Willis Depart

Gainsborough Trinity FC can today confirm that we have accepted an offer for goalkeeper, George Willis and defender Brad Beatson from Boston United. At the end of last season, chairman Richard Kane & boss Dave Frecklington offered both players terms of re-engagement, in an attempt to keep them both at the football club, for a further season.

Beatson and Willis were both signed by former boss Dominic Roma, them having progressed through the Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United academies respectively. The duo played an important part in securing the club’s survival this season, appearing over 50 times between them in their maiden season in National League North.

A four figure fee and sell on clause for the duo has been agreed, where they otherwise would have been allowed to leave the club for nothing, proving to be a good piece of business for the Holy Blues. Although we are obviously disappointed to lose the two talented youngsters, we thank Brad and George for their time at Gainsborough, and wish them well in their future careers.

This comes the week after Jordan Thewlis re-joined former club Harrogate Town , who approached the creative forward with an offer he couldn’t refuse. A move to full time football, back at his former stomping ground came at an ideal time to lure him back.

Frecklington has however been busy recruiting and has so far brought in fresh talent in the form of Ellis Storey, from Grantham; Jonathan Wafula from Shaw Lane AFC, Shane Clarke from Boston United; Craig King from Salford City; Bradley Wells, from Spalding and Johnathan Williams from Belper Town.

The gaffer has also secured the signatures of club captain, Nathan Jarman, Cecil Nyoni, Jack McGovern, Josh Lacey, Thomas Davie, Chris Salt and Michael Jacklin for another season at the club. Positive steps have been made with the remaining players that finished the season and announcements will be made in due course.
