As a result of Saturday’s 4-1 victory over a youthful Lincoln City side, Trinity find themselves with a midweek double header at the Martin & Co Arena, where the Holy Blues first entertain League One Rotherham United, before welcoming Grantham Town in the Semi Finals of the Lincolnshire County Cup.

A hectic period of three games in five days is complete with the short trip to Lincoln United on Saturday, when the Blues travel to the Sun Hats Villas & Resorts Stadium for a 3:30 kick off. We have been advised that the later than normal kick off time is to prevent a clash with the Lincoln City vs Peterborough United pre-season friendly that kicks off at 1pm in the City.

With the games coming thick and fast, Trinity boss, Dave Frecklington will have the opportunity to cast a thorough eye over all of the players in his squad, as he gets minutes into the players’ legs. Versatility amongst his squad will once again be crucial as twenty-one players jostle for a starting eleven jersey come August 5th.

First up is recently relegated Rotherham United, who will bring a strong side to the Martin & Co Arena, despite having two fixtures on the same night (United also travelling to NLN rivals Alfreton Town). It is expected Frecks’ nephew Lee will be in The Millers’ side as well as a number of other players that boast League One and Championship experience. The Millers will provide a different type of test for Frecklington’s new look squad, as they will look to dominate possession and control proceedings. The Holy Blues however, will certainly be up for the challenge as the season curtain raiser draws ever nearer.

Thursday night football at the Martin & Co Arena, sees the Holy Blues pit their wits against Evo-Stik side, Grantham Town in the Semi-Final of the Lincolnshire County Cup in what is sure to be a competitive cup tie. A quick reunion is on the cards for young Trinity defender, Ellis Storey, who signed for the Blues in the summer from Thursday’s opponents, and he is likely to find himself in the squad, keen to progress through to the County Cup Final at his ex-employees’ expense. The same rules in regards the number of substitutes that can be used will be in place for this fixture (seven), again giving the Gainsborough boss something of a selection headache as he looks to settle on a team ahead of Leamington’s visit. Unfortunately due to Lincolnshire FA requirements, discounted tickets are not available for Trinity Season Ticket Holders. Our normal pre-season prices are therefore applicable across the board. £8 adults, £4 concessions, £2 under 16s.

As the Blues hit the road on Saturday, visiting Lincoln United in the rearranged pre-season friendly, several of Trinity’s current squad find themselves returning to a former stomping ground. The management duo both spent time with The Whites, Michael Jacklin scored the deciding goal in the last fixture between the two sides – and Jack McGovern hit twenty goals last season in between spells at Gainsborough.

With three games remaining after Saturday’s journey across Lincolnshire, it is thought Dave & Terry (Fleming) will have a good number of their starting elevens pencilled in. so why not get yourself along and see how the Class of 2018 are shaping up?! Tickets for the Sun Hat Villas & Resort Stadium are priced at £6 adults, £4 concessions and U16s £2, with the ground located next to the Cricket Club at Ashby Avenue, LN6 0DY. #inittogether
