Lee Beevers & Adam Smith Sign

Double Signing

Blues’ boss Dave Frecklington has moved to strengthen his threadbare squad with the signings of two vastly experienced players, with another expected in the coming days. The side that finished the New Years’ Day local derby draw at home to Boston United was a very young side, and with a couple of players picking up knocks in that performance, Frecklington was left with little choice but to make the plunge into the transfer market.

The first to sign until the end of the season is Lee Beevers. The 34 year old has been training with the club since the summer having retired from the professional game back in May. Able to play at full back, wing back or in various midfield roles, Lee has over 450 appearances in the Conference (National League) and above, playing for teams like Lincoln City, Colchester United, Mansfield & Walsall.

Joining Beevers at the club is winger, Adam Smith, who has played well over 300 games in the National League North and higher. Returning to Trinity, who he previously played for back in 2008/09, the now 32 year old joins following the expiration of his deal at Alfreton, where he had scored four goals in 15 appearances including twice on his debut in a 4-3 defeat against FC United of Manchester.

Of the captures, Frecklington was obviously delighted to land the pair, who boast in excess of 800 appearances at this level and above. "Both players are available for Saturday’s trip to Blyth Spartans, but due to FA rulings, neither are able to face Spennymoor in the FA Trophy this evening (Thursday) due to them not having been registered prior to the original tie date".
