FC Halifax Town Preview

Important: Tonight's match vs FC Halifax Town has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The pre-season games continue to come thick and fast as Gainsborough Trinity welcome FC Halifax Town to the Martin & Co Arena this evening (Tuesday) for a 7:45pm kick off. Following successive 0-1 away wins, over Winterton Rangers and Frickley Athletic, the Holy Blues return to Gainsborough ready for their toughest test of pre-seaosn so far, in the form of Billy Heath’s Shaymen.

Promoted to the National League via the NLN play-offs last season, the Halifax game is set to be a benchmark for where Dave Frecklington’s troops find themselves ahead of the 2017/18 season. Though still early days, Frecks will be looking to see how his team fayre against a strong, physical outfit, similar to the type of game we can expect this season.

The Trinity boss will continue to cast his eye over his squad of players as he looks to pin down a starting eleven for the August 5th curtain raiser at home to Leamington. With a couple of promising showings in the opening friendlies, Frecklington could have some tough decisions over the coming weeks as he looks to shape a side capable of finishing the season in better shape than last season.

Chris Salt continues to put in the work, as he looks to get miles in the tank after missing a chunk of the pre-season build up so far, due to a knee injury sustained in the centre backs, pre-pre-season.

Dave Frecklington will name his side tomorrow from: Richard Walton, Josh Lacey, Jonathan Wafula, Thomas Davie, Nathan Stainfield, Michael Jacklin, Ioan Evans, Connor Gator, Alex Wiles, Shane Clarke, Johnathon Williams, Jack McGovern, Kyle Dixon, Craig King, Ashley Worsfold, Nathan Jarman, Brad Wells, Alex Simmons and a couple of un-named trialists (Jordan Williams, Ellis Storey). Whilst Halifax are likely to include their summer signings
