Festive Cheer as Blues Boosted by Noel signing

Exciting and highly versatile forward player Noel Burdett has signed for Gainsborough Trinity, on loan from near neighbours Scunthorpe United until the end of the season. Burdett originally signed for the Iron in January 2007. Born in Doncaster, Burdett can play all the way across midfield as well as up front and his signing boosts the options in Dominic Roma’s squad after a difficult period in front of goal during November, which had seen a previously free scoring Trinity side net only once in the month (Jordan Thewlis’ strike in the 4-1 AET defeat away at Alfreton Town in the FA Trophy).

Young Noel has featured on the Scunthorpe bench on a number of occasions, and more recently spent time out on loan at Frickley Athletic in which he enjoyed a rich run of goal scoring form, alerting Dominic Roma to his undoubted potential. Whilst at the Westfield Lane club, he hit a hat-trick in a thumping 8-0 win.

Signing until the end of the season, Burdett goes straight into the squad for the game with FC United of Manchester tomorrow. The youngster enthused: "I just can’t wait to get playing!" and when asked further about what he was hoping to get out of his time at the Martin & Co Arena, Noel gave this insight: "I had just been at Frickley where I was enjoying it and scoring a few goals (9 in 13 league and cup games). It was only right to try and progress myself to the next level and luckily Gainsborough Trinity are giving me the chance."

"I am hoping to achieve enjoyment in football and help Gainsborough gain as many points as possible during my time here. I would describe myself as a creative and direct player, I try to create as many chances as I can for the team, but also like to score a few myself. Everyone loves the feeling of scoring a goal!"

Both Gainsborough Trinity and Scunthorpe United and delighted to be forging a positive relationship due to the hard work going on behind the scenes at both clubs to strengthen the links between the sides.
