Lincoln City Preview

Gainsborough Trinity look to bounce back from Thursday night’s defeat to FC Halifax Town by progressing to the next round of the Lincolnshire County Cup when they face Lincoln City at the Martin & Co Arena. Despite conceding the first goals of the pre-season campaign, plenty of positives were to be taken as Dave Frecklington’s men continue to prepare for the opening day of the 2017/18 Vanarama National League North campaign, at home to Leamington FC.

Johnathan Williams’ first goal since re-joining the club from Belper Town cut the deficit, but a third for the recently promoted Shaymen was enough to see off the Holy Blues, with Frecks keen to focus on the positives.

A youthful Imps side is expected for tomorrow’s 3pm kick off, but the threat of the City youngsters will not be lost on the Holy Blues, who will be looking to progress further in the competition. "It might only be a young side, but they will be young, aspiring professionals who will be looking to impress and stake a claim for deals with a professional outfit. We will have to match that hunger and desire to be successful – and we are looking forward to seeing what we can learn from our group of players in this next challenge."

For tomorrow’s Lincoln City visit, Gainsborough will select from: Richard Walton, Josh Lacey, Ellis Storey, Jonathan Wafula, Thomas Davie, Charlie Gatter, Michael Jacklin, Nathan Stainfield, Ioan Evans, Chris Salt, Shane Clarke, Johnathan Williams, Alex Wiles, Jack McGovern, Jordan Richards, Gavin Rothery, Kyle Dixon, Alex Simmons, Ashley Worsfold, Craig King, Brad Wells and Nathan Jarman.
