Club Statement

Following the recent videos emerging on social media channels, Gainsborough Trinity FC would like to make the following statement regarding our staff recruitment policy for full time staff and volunteers. We have a child protection policy and other policies in place and we take matchday child protection very seriously. With this, for any matchday staff employed as a volunteer or paid, we do due diligence and check their suitability to work in certain roles at the football club and, if the role demands that DBS checks are carried out, then we do so.

We follow the Green Guide, Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds and, in reference to matchday stewarding, we are guided by section 4 Management-stewarding. We are aware that the recent social media content involves one of our last season matchday volunteer stewards and we will assist the police and other authorities in any way that we can if requested. We will also look at and update our own internal recruitment polices if necessary.

Gainsborough Trinity FC will not be making any more comments on this to allow the police and other authorities to investigate this fully.
