Colwyn Bay 0 Gainsborough Trinity 2

Colwyn Bay 0 Gainsborough Trinity 2

Trinity weathered an early onslaught by Colwyn Bay to come away with all three points on Saturday. The seagulls started strongly with 4 corners in quick succession, but failed to get a shot to trouble Barnes in the Trinity net, until he was forced into a good save following a Marc Williams free kick.

The save from the Trinity keeper seed to inspire the team and a good move by Dan Clayton down the left saw him cut the ball back, but Darryn Stamp's quick shot flew over. Dan Clayton was a thorn in the side of Colwyn all game, constantly finding himself in space but Trinity couldn't find the back of the net. Although before the half was over Darryn Stamp hit the bar.

A talking point and turning point of the first half was when Colwyn Bay were reduced to 10 men as Cameron Darkwah was given a straight red for stamping on Dom Roma, with 43 minutes gone.

From the restart after half time, Trinity pressed and debutant Callum Howe scored a half volley from the edge of the box following Josh Wilde's shot coming back off the bar.

Trinity pushed and probed following the goal and it took a ball through to Jamie Wootton who forward a good save by Chris Sanna, but Lewis McMahon latched onto the rebound to put the ball in. Trinity saw out the game and even thought they had scored again from a Greg Young header but the linesman's flag went up for a foul.
