The Holy Blues manager, Curtis Woodhouse, says his side are in for a "really tough" test against the Mariners. He said: "We know what qualities South Shields possess and we have to put in an excellent performance to get anything out of the game. One thing we have done so well this season is bounce back from tough moments and so I’ll be looking for more of the same tomorrow night."

Before the first kick of the 2020/21 season, many predicted South Shields to gain promotion as champions come the end of the season as they were cruelly denied so in the curtailment of the 2019/20 campaign. Whilst the Mariners currently lay 8th in the table, their quality is clear as they enter the fixture on the back of consecutive 1-0 victories in the league and most recently, the FA Trophy.

Tonight’s clash is likely to be the last competitive fixture for the Holy Blues until at least the 2nd of December following the Government’s announcement of a month-long lockdown which will commence from Thursday though the weekend potentially sees the Mariners travel to Gloucestershire, to take on Cheltenham Town in the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper. Can the Holy Blues catch our visitors from the North East with one eye on Saturday's game? Only time will tell...

Tickets are likely to be hotly contested, therefore the club would like to request that tickets are bought online where possible. This will assist with the track and trace system deployed at the ground and prevent unnecessary queuing around the ground. There will be 500 tickets available for online purchase, with 100 reserved for on the gate purchase; however it is preferred that these are left for those who are unable to do so online.

The club also asks that any attendee checks-in to the venue via the NHS track and trace app. Commentary of the fixture will be live with Kieran Curtis from 7:40pm on Mixlr, the link to can be found here. Alternatively, there will also be live tweets from kick off on our commentary page.
