Manager Russ Wilcox told of many sleepless nights after he received notification that his current number one, Dylan Wharton, had been barred from playing by Premier League side Sheffield United following Wharton's concussion diagnosis in the victory over Basford united ten days ago. Springing into action, the Trinity boss got in touch with Hull, to ask of Robson's availability. They contacted the 'keeper & then it was up to Wilcox to convince his man,

"I have worked with David before, he played the last seven games of the season a couple of seasons ago (at Farsley Celtic). And he was instrumental in us staying up that season. We have kept in touch since then. I know all about his attributes - and I was delighted to be able to bring him into the group. He's a goalkeeper who should be playing higher. He's got game time in Sky Bet League Two with Crawley Town & also played for Darlington earlier this season."

Robson, who admits "I just want to be playing games..." explained how he didn't know many of his team mates prior to linking up with his new colleagues on the coach to the game against Warrington Rylands on Saturday. "I guess it’s not the most usual of circumstances of meeting everyone, but it was what it was and just had to crack on with it. The lads were good with me and it helped knowing Russ and having played with Lewis Butroid before at Farsley together. I think you just have to be ready and mentally sharp so that when those moments or situations happen, then you are in the best place physically and mentally to deal with them & hope that you come out on top in that moment."

Robson first signed on loan, in what turned out to be Liam King and Ross Hannah's final league game. A 1-3 reverse at the hands of Ashton United, before keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Dunston UTS in the Buildbase FA Trophy. Then, a seventeen year old, Robson has continued to work hard & was eager to impress, something his manager felt he did:

"He had an outstanding debut, making a couple of key saves at key moments, while it was 0-0 and on top of that he swept up really well. Considering he didn't know his team mates before Saturday morning, he certainly went about finding everything out. Asking names, asking questions, learning as much as he could in a short period."

That commitment and preparation in a short period of time, certainly paid off on his second debut, with Wharton likely ruled out for another game - Robson is likely to have another opportunity to impress, against Whitby Town on Saturday. And then the boss will have a tricky dilemma, with two excellent goalkeepers, with bright futures in the game, at his disposal. Not a bad position to be in at all, as the Holy Blues look to continue the fine run of form we have been on since the turn of the year.

Join us in extending a belated warm welcome to Robbo for his time he will spend with us. And thanks to his parent club, Hull City for allowing us to get the deal over the line in time for the weekend's clash with Warrington Rylands. Here's to a successful stay in Lincolnshire.
