Wilcox made one change from the mid week Trophy defeat to Alfreton, restoring Sisa Tuntulwana to the starting line up, with Javelle Clarke named amongst the substitutes alongside the returning Margetts.

Gainsborough were quickly out of the traps in a dominant first half showing. The Blues deservedly taking the lead on fifteen minutes through Sisa Tuntulwana's fifth goal of the season. Tuntulwana getting the telling touch to Frank Mulhern's flick on, taking the ball away from Calvin Hare's despairing dive.

In truth, Trinity could have been three - one up by the time Tuntulwana actually opened the scoring. Will Lancaster's cross-field ball was knocked down by Lewis Butroid for Fraser Preston finding space inside the Prescot box. His low cross finding Frank Mulhern, who from the tightest of angles brought out a reactionary save from Calvin Hare.

The resultant corner saw Bobby Johnson's set piece find it's way all the way across the face of the six yard box, where Harrison Beeden couldn't divert his effort on target. Sisa then rose highest, to divert another Johnson corner towards goal - but he couldn't keep his header down. Ben Elliot, the Cables' top scorer, then found a pocket of space inside the box, but couldn't find a way past David Robson, who was smartly down at his near post to divert the ball behind for a corner kick.

Just past the midway point of the first half, Mulhern was mightily close to scoring a cultured volley. Another intelligent Butroid knock down found Mulhern who backed off to make himself room before fizzing a right foot volley half a yard wide of Hare's goal.

Like London buses, Trinity wouldn't have long to wait for another chance. This time Aaron Simpson provided the ammunition, swinging in a ball from the right. Butroid getting up highest to head down into the ground. Plunging to his left - Hare produced a top save to keep his side in the game.

Twice in a matter of minutes, Ashley Jackson got on the end of Johnson set pieces. Twice, the Trinity centurion went close to finding a way past Hare, but twice the Blues were left to rue the missed opportunities. A soft freekick was awarded against Blues' skipper Johnson, shortly before half time. And Prescot had the ball in the back of the net, A flag from the assistant on the far side rendered the home side's joy short lived. It was to be a wake up call and one that would see a shift in momentum. A moment shift in favour of the hosts.

Half Time: Prescot Cables 0 Gainsborough Trinity 1

Cables' boss Ste Daily rolled the dice at the break. Making three half time changes. Stern words clearly spoken at the interval- saw Prescot come out for the second half - fired up - and ready to rumble.

Prescot captain, James Foley's set pieces were beginning to cause problems for the Holy Blues. The more physical, robust presence of John Murphy, adding to the aerial threat of big centre back Brad Moonan. And with more freekicks starting to go the way of the hosts, Trinity found themselves increasingly under the cosh. Foley forced a back-pedalling save from Robson, before Moonan rose highest to head home a Foley set piece. Before Jack Goodwin tried his luck with an effort from range, that forced Robson to concede the corner.

Prescot were starting to dominant the game, as the swirling fog continued to descend on the Auto Safety Centre Stadium. And things would become even tougher for the Holy Blues around twenty minutes from time. Despite the home side asking more questions, Aaron Simpson did brilliantly to win an aerial duel in the middle of the park - only to be clattered by Charley Doyle. Simpson's header landing kindly for substitute Margetts to hone in on goal.

Eager to stop play and caution the Cables' substitute, he inadvertetdly deprived Margetts of a clean run through on goal. And two minutes later, Trinity found themselves down to ten men. When Simpson was shown his second yellow of the afternoon.

Things went from bad to worse, when the Blues took a moment to adjust following the red card. Ben Elliott profiting from a moments indecision to lash the ball into the roof of the net. Turning the game on it's head. Prescot continued to have more of the ball in the second period, but the Blues stayed in the game.

Four minutes from time, a clever Mulhern run from right to left, on the blindside of the defender, saw a clumsy Cables challenge, but the Referee waved away the Blues' appeals for a penalty. While at the other end, Robson sprung into life. Diving across to his right to deny another of the Prescot half-time substitutes, Sharif Deans. The right sided substitute, showing some neat footwork to come in off the right hand side. His left footed effort, bringing out the best of Robbo, to divert the ball behind for a corner.

And with time slipping away up popped Jonny Margetts, with his 11th goal of the season to grab Trinity a share of the points - to the delight of the travelling Trinity faithful. Thus earning Trinity a hard-earned first point against Prescot, in three attempts. Rescuing a point from a game that the Holy Blues had done more than enough to have won in the first half.

The inability to put a game out of reach, costing Gainsborough all three points... Trinity now return to the Kal Group Stadium, for two home games in the space of four days. It's Hebburn Town on Tuesday night - a tough challenge against a side that just moved into the play-off places, before entertaining Hyde United on Saturday.

Both games set to be crucial games in Gainsborough's hopes for a play-off charge. So let's see as many people out in force, roaring on the Blue Army. Get behind your Gainsborough Trinity - and who knows what can happen?
