Trinity boss, Russ Wilcox, made four changes from Tuesday night's point on the road at Morpeth Town. Suspended duo, Adam Crookes and Aaron Simpson came in to strengthen the back line. Crookes partnering Harrison Beeden at centre half. Midfielder Jordan Helliwell came back in for Jacob McLoughlin, while Sisa Tuntulwana was preferred to Fraser Preston. Youngster Charlie Parks didn't travel, the latest Holy Blue to be struck down with the bug that has swept the camp in recent weeks.

The visitors, in Green and White settled into the game quicker. And it was Liam Isherwood, the Warrington 'keeper who was forced into action first. Smartly getting down to deny Helliwell low to his left inside the opening three minutes.

Midway through the half, Tuntulwana looked to unlock the Town defence. As his first effort was blocked, the ball fell kindly for the exciting Trinity attacker, who got off his second effort in quick succession. This time arrowing a low effort towards Isherwood's bottom right hand corner. Similarly to Helliwell's earlier effort, Trinity were left to wonder if the Yellows' keeper was going to continue his impressive run of form that has seen him concede an average of one goal every three games, on home turf.

Home centre back Harry Flowers had to be alert to the danger, as a poor back header saw Jonny Margetts looking to capitalise, but Flowers strode across, taking the ball clearly & ensuring the score remained level. There was no let off for the hosts four minutes from half time though. Margetts found space and time in the box. Set himself, and placed the most composed of finishes just inside Isherwood's left-hand upright. And Trinity led in the lead up to half time.

On balance of play; the least Wilcox's men deserved. Tuntulwana produced the moment of magic, receiving the ball into feet, he skilfully flicked the ball over his head, spinning in behind Jack Doyle before getting his head up and finding the ball for Margetts - for the forward to do the rest. Trinity lead at the break. And on the balance of chances, it was the visitors who deservedly led.

Half Time: Warrington Town 0 Gainsborough Trinity 1

Town came out for the second half, with a bit more fight, Morris replacing Brazier at half time looked to give the hosts a bit of something, but Ashley Jackson did well defensively, sticking to his guns. And ten minutes into the second half, Butroid had a gilt-edge opening to make it two-nil Gainsborough. A clever ball from Tuntulwana dissected the Warrington defence. Landing kindly at the feet of the Trinity #7 but he didn't hit the target, as the Blues' support behind the goal took a sharp intake of breath.

Fortunately, Trinity wouldn't be made to pay. As just three minutes later, Tuntulwana was taken down & Referee Mr Soneye had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Mulhern making no mistake from twelve yards out, as he sent Isherwood the wrong way - and the visitors had a cushion.

Niall Watson, with a rare moment of quality, delivered a cross on the run, that was met by Thompson. His header forcing a back pedalling Robson into a hurried touch over the bar. The corner from Doyle (like his two in the first half) was overhit. Relieving any pressure on the Trinity back line.

With just under twenty minutes to play, the lively Tuntulwana was denied by the flying Isherwood. The stop from Sisa's strike made even more impressive with the deflection coming after Isherwood had already taken flight. It was perhaps a touch harsh on the home 'keeper that his next touch was to pick the ball out of the net.

A well-worked corner routine was played back to the corner taker, Bobby Johnson. Working the 2v1 perfectly, the skipper bent the ball into the far corner - to make it three for Trinity. The Holy Blues used the cushion, to utilise all members of the squad, with minutes for new signing Theo Williams amongst those to get game time. He looked lively in his short cameo, as the visitors saw the game out comfortably.

The result seeing Wilcox's men leapfrog Paul Carden's Warrington Town. Moving into seventh spot, five points off FC United in the final play-off position, the Blues boasting a game in hand. And with the expected three point deduction expected to hit Stockton (when the tables are officially updated to reflect the sanction) Trinity will be ungraded to sixth. Exciting times for the Holy Blues, who prepare for a home-triple-header. Against Stocksbridge Park Steels on the 13th December, Leek Town on the 16th & Ilkeston Town on the 20th. Russ will be keen to capitalise on home comforts, as we look to pick up a head of steam in the charge up to Christmas
