Ross Hannah doubled Trinity’s lead with a contender for Goal of the Season when he chased down a long Jon Stewart clearance, and with the ball dropping over his right shoulder, he hit a sweet volley over the advancing Stone to put the Holy Blues two up seven minutes before the break. Lancaster made a double change at the break and responded well, Matthew Blinkhorn pulling one back for the visitors as Gainsborough failed to clear a hotly contested free-kick.

Ben Hudson went close to levelling things for the visitors, only to be denied by a full length save by Stewart to keep the Blues’ noses in front. Trinity and Hannah however wrapped up the scoring, after Stone was adjudged to have handled outside his box, the former Grimsby front man sunk Lancaster. A devilish left footed free-kick on the right edge of the box, cannoning off the left hand up right and into the back of the net, leaving Stone stunned.

Despite the visitors best efforts, Gainsborough shut up shop and saw out the closing stages of the game, stretching the winning run to four games on the spin.
