A former Sheffield Wednesday academy graduate, who was capped by Scotland and youth level, was on the scoresheet on Saturday, as the Holy Blues drew 3-3 at Bradford Park Avenue. And he follows up his goal, with the news that he extends his stay at the Kal Group Stadium, for the upcoming season: "It was no brainer for me to sign here again. Since I came back from injury, I’ve loved every second of being back on the pitch and feel like I’ve got my love and hunger back for the game."

"The lads and the staff played a massive part in me signing again as they have all been right behind me through the most difficult season of my career yet! The return from injury was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever been through mentally and physically, but Jono has been brilliant from the day I got the injury and I thank him for getting me back to where I am now."

Reflecting on the opportunity to get back out on the pitch, playing regularly, Fraser insisted, "It’s good to be back playing and playing some of the best football I’ve played in the last few years. I put that down to the gaffa for giving me the chance to play a run of games and him believing in my ability. Russ has been brilliant towards me since day one of coming into the club. He never rushed me to get back from injury and always checked in to see how my progress was going."</p>

From the manager, to the fans, to the players, Trinity is an environment that Fraser wants to be apart of, "The fans have been good to me since I arrived and being injured, I got a lot of time to talk to some of them more and build closer relationships with them."

"One of the main reasons it was a no brainer for me to sign was because of how good a group we have here, on and off the pitch, as you can see what we have done in the back end of the season! Next season we want promotion and I think this group is more than capable of competing at the top end of the table. And everybody in the changing room is all in the same mindset."

The boss, Russ Wilcox is equally thrilled that Fraser has decided to extend his stay at DN21 saying, "It's more excellent news with Fraser Preston signing a new contract with us. Fraser has done really well to get back from a serious Achilles injury with the help of Jonathan Whitehorne, our physio. He gives us great quality and can play numerous positions enabling us to play different ways. His goals and assists will be very important to us moving forward."

"For me, Fraser's goal against Worksop in the New Year's Day fixture perhaps goes down as the moment of the season. The togetherness shown that day epitomises the Trinity spirit and proved to be the catalyst to the fine second half of the season. And the beginning of the great run. The laying of the foundations so to speak, for next season."

One town, one team, one Trinity.
