“Kyle was obviously with us last season, and like Cody, I have seen good development in him. He’s still only young – and it makes sense to have him around the club, learning good habits and developing his all round game.”
Forward Simpson is looking to grasp the opportunity with both hands, “I’m delighted with it to be honest. Last season I was with the 21s and got my call to have a game with the first team, and train with them. I put myself in a position where I have worked hard and obviously, I am absolutely over the moon to be with the side this season. It gives me a good working set up to help me develop into a better player.”
“Being around the team, I get on a lot better with them all now, to start with, I felt like a little bit of an outcast, but having been with them all pre-season, it’s started to be a lot easier to work around them."
"Hopefully I can show Russ what I can do in the league, especially last year, it wasn’t the best last season, it was a bad time to come into the team, with us chasing points, I didn’t have much time to show what I could do, but hopefully this time around, I will get the chance to show what I can do in the league – and go from there.”
Kyle appeared fifty times for the Under 21s, scoring 37 goals in that time. He helped the side to the treble
in 2022/23 as the Young Blues were crowned League Winners, League Cup Winners & Champions Play-Off Winners. As well as playing a valuable team role, Simpson also had individual accolades to show for his efforts with the 21s. He earned the Coaches' Player of the Year for 2022/23, following up the season after - with the Golden Boot.
Simpson scored his first Senior goal for Trinity last season, when he was part of the youthful side, defeated by a strong Scunthorpe United side in the Lincolnshire County Cup. He was on the mark again, in the 4-1 win over Bottesford Town, this pre-season.

Defender Jacob McLoughlin & Goalkeeper Rhys Westcarr-Toft have also signed NPL forms with the Holy Blues, but have immediately linked up with Club Thorne Colliery. Both playing the full ninety minutes in a 3-1, come from behind victory against Wakefield on the opening day of the Northern Counties East League fixtures. Again, both players played the full ninety against Wombwell. This time, Club Thorne falling to a 2-1 defeat, away from home.
Cody Collins got his first competitive minutes of the season too, he has signed forms at Rossington Main and came on as a second half substitute in the Doncaster based sides’ opening day fixture. A game in which former Trinity player and Joint Manager Ross Hannah scored a brace to help Main to victory. In the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, Cody was an unused substitute as Rossington were beaten by three goals to nil by AFC Mansfield. His inactivity from the bench meaning he is not cup-tied, should he be required for our FA Cup adventure, this season.
