Emirates FA Cup: Second Round Draw

Gainsborough Trinity boss, Russ Wilcox, appeared on BBC's Emirates FA Cup Highlights package on Sunday evening. Following the sides heroic performance on Saturday, eventually defeating Hednesford Town on penalties, Wilcox was invited up to the BBCs Salford Headquarters, due to the Holy Blues' status as the lowest ranked team remaining in the Emirates FA Cup, and last PitchingIn Northern Premier League team standing.

The Blues finally came out of the hat as the penultimate tie of the round. Facing Harrogate Town at the Exercise Stadium, is the reward for Wilcox's men, a re-run of Trinity's game seven years ago, the dream of many a Holy Blue. Reacting to the draw, Wilcox proclaimed, "After waiting 72 years to reach the 2nd round of the FA Cup, let’s celebrate this outstanding achievement."

"Harrogate Town away is our next destination, and we go there knowing we will have another incredible following from our supporters. A huge thank you to everyone who attended the weekend’s game at Hednesford. It’s a game that will live with all of us for years to come. Harrogate away is obviously going to be a very tough challenge, but we will go there with confidence and belief that we can cause another huge upset."

Details of the match will be shared when we have them, although the games are set to be played the weekend of Friday 29th November. Ties to be televised are still to be confirmed by broadcasters BBC and ITV. As a result of our continued participation in the 2024/25 Emirates FA Cup, our scheduled NPL fixture away against Prescot Cables, on Saturday 30th, will now be rearranged.
