The two sides have very similar returns from the last six league games. FCUM have picked up eight points from their last six games. Whereas the Holy Blues have seven from the same period. United have a seven-goal positive swing in terms of goal difference, Trinity with a minus four goal difference from the last six games, as opposed to the Red Rebels plus 3 goal difference. A 4-0 win over Prescot, and a 4-1 victory against Morpeth, backed up with a 2-2 draw last Tuesday night against Warrington Rylands and a 1-1 draw with Worksop Town have all helped with their creditable points return.

The Blues on the other hand have seen their league form take a hit over the festive period, yet still pick up key results in the FA Trophy. The one all draw away at Basford following on the heels of Russ Wilcox’s men dispatching York City from the Trophy. Victories away at Lancaster City and at home to promotion chasing Hyde are the other performances of note, though defeats to Morpeth and Worksop, two sides Mark Beesley’s FC United side have picked up results against should serve as a word of caution, that nothing should be taken for granted.

Like Declan Howe, for the Holy Blues, Adam Le Fondre for FC United of Manchester is on nine league goals for the season. Seven of Le Fondre’s nine goals have come at Broadhurst Park. Six of Dec’s nine league goals have come away from home. Two threatening strikers, appearing to be playing where they want to be. In recent times, United have the bragging rights at Broadhurst Park, having won four of the last seven games. Including last time out, the hosts ran out 2-0 winners against Russ Wilcox’s men.

Happier times came for the Holy Blues, when Curtis Durose was on the mark, scoring with an audacious long-range chip to restore the two goal advantage that had been given by Liam Waldock and Harry Lewis. Dontai Gabidon had reduced the arrears that afternoon, but Durose made it safe five minutes later.

With the weather warming slightly, let's see a good following of Holy Blues heading to Broadhurst Park. Often a Saturday fixture, where Trinity love to travel in numbers, it is a shame that the game is in midweek, but Trinity will be looking to spring a surprise, under the lights.

Elsewhere in Northern Premier League action, there are games scheduled across a couple of days in midweek, but with so few games scheduled for midweek action, there could be some big movers, particularly if results go the way of the Holy Blues!
