Prescot also won at the weekend, defeating Ashton United by a goal to nil at Hope Street to give Ste Daley's side their first league win since the 26th October, when the Amber and Blacks defeated Ilkeston Town (also at home). Five draws in the time between those victories does perhaps show a hard to beat mentality. Despite having just moved out of the relegation zone, at the expense of Bamber Bridge, to sit in 18th ahead of our Tuesday night meeting, the league table requires a more in depth look.

Trinity have a game in hand on Prescot, but Cables are only sat three points behind the Blues. Similarly, Russ Wilcox’s men sit only three points behind Hyde in the heady heights of eighth. The league remains incredibly tight as teams from 8th to 18th are only separated by six points, though a little gap is starting to open up between the play-off spots and Stockton in sixth, there's still a lot of football to be played. And Ian Deakin at Ilkeston is going to have a job on his hands, replacing the goals of Tom Cursons. The former Trinity striker securing his move to Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate Town recently.

Since their promotion to the NPL Premier Division in the Summer, Cables have won four and drawn six of their twelve home league games this season. Only falling to defeats against Workington and Morpeth, both by the 0-2 scoreline. Creditable draws against two of the top four, in the form of runaway leader's Macclesfield and Worksop show that the challenge that awaits at Hope Street, should not be underestimated.

Russ Wilcox will again be looking to utilise his squad, having changed things up at the weekend. The Trinity boss no doubt pleased with his side's resilience on Teeside, but with Sam Fishburn cup-tied on Saturday, the on loan Scunthorpe United centre forward will be itching to be involved.

Heading over to Merseyside on Tuesday night, Trinity (who are up to fifth in the away form table) will be looking to add to their 21 points picked up on the road, so far this campaign, will as ever be incredibly grateful for your support and backing, so fire up your sat nav and enter: Eaton Street, Prescot, Merseyside, L34 6HD. An average home attendance, sitting around the 822 mark shows the backing the Merseysiders are getting, and so every ounce of support the Holy Blues can muster, will be appreciated by Russ and the team.

Elsewhere

There's only two other games scheduled for Tuesday night, in the Pitching In Northern Premier League as Morpeth Town welcome Guiseley to Craik Park (having just earned a creditable point away to Hyde at the weekend). And Mickleover appear to be in real trouble at the bottom of the table, five points off safety and having lost to bottom side Blyth Spartans at the weekend, Mickleover hosting Ashton United on Tuesday.
