NPL Round Up: After Game Day 39

The NPL Prem was back to it's incredible, unpredictable best this last weekend as four teams fighting relegation all won and three teams in the play-off places all lost! We also saw Champions Macclesfield reach 100 points, as well as Basford and Mickleover lose their fight against relegation. Bamber Bridge gave their survival hopes a big boost with a shock victory over Worksop Town. Jack Baxter scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute to keep Brig 3 points outside of the bottom four.

Matlock boosted their survival hopes with a thumping victory over Hyde. Goals from Bondo, Gibson, Ravenhill and Noel-Williams gave the Gladiators the win, but results elsewhere kept them in the bottom four. Whitby boosted their survival hopes with their second win in a row against Warrington Rylands. Matty Tymon struck the game's only goal on the stroke of half time to give Whitby the win and keep them three points clear of the bottom four.

Lancaster earned a much needed win over Blyth. Goals from Cox, Beeden and Bjork gave gave them the win though Blyth made them work hard with goals from Hooper and Simpson. Lancaster stay four points clear of the drop zone. Basford fought back twice to draw with Morpeth, but it couldn't save them from relegation. Morpeth had led twice through Hodgson and Henderson but were pegged back by Palmer and Gratton. This draw sees Basford relegated.

Mickleover were also relegated after sharing the points with Hebburn. Hebburn took the lead through Joao Gomes, before Aaron Thompson was dismissed. Mickleover equalised through Gabriel Adebambo, but couldn't find a winner. Leek guaranteed survival thanks to victory over Workington. Taylor Bowen scored the only goal after 2 minutes to ensure survival for Leek and leave Workington nervously looking over their shoulders.

Stockton's fine form continued with a hard fought win over Prescot Cables. Adam Nicholson scored the only goal of the game in the 47th minute to secure the win and see Stockton leapfrog Guiseley into 3rd place. Champions Macclesfield made it to 100 points in the league with victory over play-off chasers Guiseley. Neil Kengni scored twice and Diego De Girolamo added a late third for the champions. This result sees Guiseley drop to 4th.

Ilkeston and FC United of Manchester shared the points in a 1-1 draw. FC took the lead through Charlie Ennis but this was quickly cancelled out by L'Varn Brandy. The point keeps Ilkeston in 6th place, four points outside of the play-offs, with three to play. Ashton's inconsistent form continued with defeat at home to Gainsborough. Goals from Declan Howe and Lewis Butriod gave Trinity the 3 points, moving them up to 8th, Ashton still hold the final play-off place.
