"Last season, it was a weird one coming in to the club, for me. If i am honest, I didn’t know much about the club, league or players - but I knew Fraser and managed to come in, in pre season. It felt like I settled in straight away and we had an amazing group which made things easy for me after moving up north." That's something a lot of players cite. How quickly they settle into the group - and something boss Russ Wilcox has regularly commented on. Aaron continued,

"Fast forward a few months and we found ourselves on an amazing cup run and it’s amazing how we did it, it’s not easy as a small squad but we managed to have a great run & have made some memories that will live with me forever. To be part of a history making season for Gainsborough & I’m looking forward to seeing what the next season brings! Now though, it's time to rest up as the legs have taken a battering this year and recharge for the new season!"

Russ commented, "It’s great to see Aaron committing for next season. He joined us last summer from Salisbury, and has given us excellent experience and leadership qualities to our young squad. He's another positive signing for us moving forward."

Trinity Appearances

In his first season for the Holy Blues, Simpson made 47 appearances including 43 starts. Despite being an attacking threat down the right and providing opportunities for others, he's still to score his maiden Gainsborough goal.
