On Tuesday night, Brighouse lost 0-3 at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels, the side recently promoted to the NPL. They have just recently added Ricky Ravenhill (formerly of Doncaster Rovers) as their Assistant Manager and boast Jordan Preston amongst their squad, adding a sprinkling of family rivalry to the friendly on Saturday.

Prior to the defeat to SPS, Brighouse won 2-3 away at Maltby Main, had a 3-1 win at home to Golcar coupled with a 1-1 draw at home to Brigg Town. Defeats by a goal to nil at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic. And 3-0 at Athersley Recreation give the team formed in 1963, a won two, lost three and drawn one record from their seventeen friendlies to date.

Trinity's relatively settled squad continues to be fine tuned by the vastly experienced Russ Wilcox, summer recruits, Frank Mulhern, Jonny Margetts, Adam Crookes & Harrison Beeden continue to be integrated into the Gainsborough 'blue' print, as competition for places hots up, for the August 9th curtain raiser.

Pre-Season for the Blues has provided a testing workout as Trinity have gotten valuable minutes in the legs. A draw against a strong EFL 2 side, Grimsby, has been supplemented by wins over Scunthorpe United, Bottesford Town, Club Thorne & most recently a youthful Lincoln City side. Winning games breeds confidence, is a welcome habit for the boys to get themselves into - and they're relishing the next next challenge the pre-season preparations bring.

Kick off at the Heffernan Utilities Stadium is at 1pm on Saturday, meaning an earlier than normal departure time for the Trinity faithful, but there is still likely to be a good following of Holy Blues, wanting to show their early backing of the team. Admission for this game is set by the hosts at £7 adults and £4 Concessions. And you can find the ground using the postcode HD6 2PL. Safe travels to everyone making the trip.

Blues' supporter, Darren Gray is currently exploring providing coaches for Gainsborough Trinity away games, to ensure Russ & the boys get maximum support at away games. The first one he is looking to run a bus for, is the match against Warrington Rylands on Saturday 16th August. Leaving the Kal Group Stadium (outside Blues Club) at 10.30am prompt, there is a price set at £22 adults, £10 u16s.
