It is a busy time of the season for the two sides, just over midway through a manic opening month, and only just embarking on the second game of three, in six days this week! From Tuesday night’s win against Stockton, to Lancaster City at home on Saturday, Trinity round off the bumper weekend with a Bank Holiday Monday trip to Cleethorpes Town. Lancaster travelled to Morpeth on Tuesday night (picking up a one-nil win) before coming to Lincolnshire, ending their weekend at home to Workington.
Lancaster start the afternoon a place above Trinity in the league, by virtue of a marginally better goal difference. Though only scoring four goals, the have conceded five compared to Trinity’s return of five scored and seven conceded. Trinity have won one at home and one away, Lancaster winning their last two, beating Hebburn Town 3-2 at The Giant Axe 2-0 to FC United and 1-0 away at Hyde, wrap up their results so far this campaign.
Last Season | The two games between Gainsborough and Lancaster finished in 2-1 defeats for the home sides. The game in September, at the Kal Group Stadium, saw Lancaster win 2-1. Trinity’s summer signing Harrison Beeden on the mark for the visitors, along with Dominic Lawson. Dayle Southwell had given Trinity the lead inside the opening ten minutes.
At the Giant Axe, in December, Lewis Butroid opened the scoring for the Holy 
Blues, before Trinity were pegged back by Lewis Mansell. Declan Howe grabbing the winner seven minutes into the second half. The Gainsborough faithful will be hoping this season’s results do not match those of last season (well – not all of them, in any case).

The Pitmen will be looking to bounce back from their first dropped points of the season, when they make the long jaunt up to the North East and the border of Hadrian’s Wall on Saturday.
