The 26 year old versatile midfielder, who can also operate at full back & as a wing back, down both flanks, was excited to pen a deal that will keep him at the club for another season. A regular in Wilcox's starting eleven, from the turn of the year, Hornshaw added another 41 appearances to his total, taking him to 161 appearances in Trinity colours.

A similar return this time out, would see George break the two hundred appearances barrier. A feat most recently achieved by the likes of Dom Roma & Simon Russell. Something that demonstrates his commitment to the cause.

Agreeing terms early in the Summer, Hornshaw is now ready to recharge his batteries, ahead of the return to training, in early July, where he believes: "We had a very good season last year again in the FA cup reaching the first round while just missing out on the playoffs. We have a good group of players and are more than capable of going a step further next season."

"I’ve been at Gainsborough a few seasons now and everyone involved with the football club have been brilliant with me. Russ has always given me a chance and has trusted me throughout my full career which made it an easier decision to stay on!"

A complete round up of where we are at, including departure, those offered new terms & those retained will be released this evening. Now the list can be formalised. Manager, Russ Wilcox is continuing to quietly go about his business, assembling his 2026/27 squad - and we will bring you updates as and when they are available. Thank you for your patience.
