The vastly experienced, former England C international, now 32, is an all action midfielder who has played for the likes of Lincoln City,, Grimsby Town & Scunthorpe United, prior to joining the Silkmen, has over 50 career goals from his central midfield berth, Whitehouse arrives at the Northolme with high ambitions for the 2026/27.

The Worksop born player, started his career in the Youth Ranks at Sheffield United. He went on to make three first team appearances before loans at York City and Alfreton. Joining Notts County, he went out on loan again - this time to Nuneaton, before later signing for them permanently. It was with the 'Boro he was at his most prolific, scoring at a rate of nearly one in two.

Time at Lincoln City, Grimsby Town (including a nasty ACL injury) was followed by Forest Green, Scunthorpe & Chester, before he signed a two year contract at Macclesfield, where he enjoyed a short loan at Matlock Town, before his season long stint at Step 2 side, Peterborough Sports.

On returning from Holiday, and having completed his move to the Holy Blues, Whitehouse had this to say: "Over the moon to sign. Local team. It's on my doorstep. And everything aligns, it just all makes sense for me."

"I spoke to the gaffer and I've been keeping an eye on Gainsborough for the last few years. I know lads who have played here & speak highly of the club, the people that work here. The fans, I've even been down to watch a few games before, too,"

"I cant wait to get going. I'm sure I can add a lot with my experience- I played a lot of games last year & that has helped me a lot. Still got plenty to give, so I can't wait to get started, meet everyone in pre-season and let's try and achieve the ultimate aim, which is promotion."

He continued, "Speaking with Russ, Gainsborough have been there, or thereabouts the last couple of years, but haven't quite got there. The key is promotion & fingers crossed we can do that, whether it's through the play-off or not, the goal is to be up there at the end of the season."

Despite a season of regular football, Whitehouse's presence in the Turbine engine room - he was unable to mastermind their safety, but Trinity boss, Wilcox sees where Elliott can fit in at Gainsborough:

"Elliott will add experience, quality and creativity to the squad. I’ve followed his journey from his Sheffield Utd days. I’m delighted to be able to add his qualities to our group here at Gainsborough Trinity."

His leadership and game management are certain to be assets. Not to mention his presence in the middle of the park, where he will look to put his foot on the ball & dictate the way Trinity will set up, thanks to his range of passing in his locker.
