Frequently compared to Marco Bielsa’s Leeds United side, Grant Shenton’s Avro have been amongst the goals this season – their eight league games have yielded a staggering 42 goals! Averaging more than three goals a game (scored) whilst going along at an average two goals a game conceded. Avro can certainly be called the entertainers! Promoted last season as Northern Premier League, Division 1 West, Play-Off Winners, they have certainly come into the division with a no fear mentality.

Their only defeat in the league coming away at Alfreton on the second Saturday of the season. Falling to a 3-0 defeat. The other game in which ‘Ro failed to score, was last time out, when the NPL new boys were beaten 2-0 at home in the Emirates FA Cup, by Witton Albion. The challenge that lies in wait for Russ Wilcox’s Holy Blues will be keeping out the free scoring Oldham based side. Leading the scoring charts for Saturday’s visitors are Benito Lowe (8) Harry Salt (6) and Taylor Dyson (5).

At the weekend, Theo Williams replaced Ashton Offler at the top of the Gainsborough scoring charts, thanks to his brace in the 4-2 victory over Sherwood Colliery. Williams has been in great form so far this campaign. With nine goal involvements in nine games, making him a threat for the Blues. Fraser Preston took his season tally to three for the campaign, with his first half opener, and is enjoying his football at the moment, helping Trinity, who are averaging two goals a game across the nine competitive games played.

It’s all set to be a cracking league game – and we ask you to get behind the Holy Blues in your numbers! We have had back to back home league crowds of over a thousand – and we would love to receive that backing once again.
