Both sides sit in the play-off places. Town occupy the final spot (seventh) with Trinity in fifth, two points ahead of Warrington, after thirteen games apiece (25 points, to Town’s 23). And two games in hand on current league leaders’ Redcar Athletic (34 points from fifteen games).
In the last six, Carden's side have won two, drawn three and lost the other, three points fewer than Russ Wilcox's boys! With a -1 goal difference from their half dozen fixtures,
compared to Gainsborough’s +6.
At home, the Yellows have won one, drawing four, giving them seven points from their six home fixtures, while on their travels, Trinity are picking up just over two points a game, on the road. Thirteen from six games, including wins against FC, Ashton, Whitby & Emley with 13 goals scored in those wins.
Confidence must be high, going into Saturday's game, with the Blues scoring goals throughout the side. Four different scorers last time out typified the way the goals are being shared around this season, giving the sort of selection headaches Wilcox will relish. A positive result for Russ & the boys on the road, will be a boost before a home double header, on Tuesday and Saturday, when Gainsborough host Curzon Ashton & Bamber Bridge… but the age old adage… of taking it one game at a time, will certainly be prevalent.
The Gainsborough Trinity Travel Club are again running a coach for this one, ensuring the Holy Blues are once again, well backed on the road, And it is set to be a first competitive outing for our stylish aqua-blue third kit. Quite apt perhaps with Storm Austen currently howling around the United Kingdom. The first autumnal storm of the season. Hopefully torrential downpours and swirling winds, don’t put a dampener on the Holy Blues’ recent good form, as the Blues target five from five.
Let’s get out in our numbers – and roar Trinity to victory. Blue Army! Blue Army!
