Matt the Gingerbread Baker Joins

Gainsborough Trinity have moved to add defensive cover to the ranks, with the acquisition of central defender, Matt Baker from Pitching In Northern Premier League rivals, Grantham Town. Formerly Club Captain at Ilkeston Town, the 26 year old started his career in the Leicester City Academy before moving to the Robins as a sixteen year old, where he worked his way up to the first team.

Since having spells with Buxton, Redditch and most recently, the Gingerbreads, Baker brings with him a wealth of experience that will supplement Curtis Woodhouse's young side. "I am delighted to welcome centre back Matt Baker to Gainsborough Trinity. He is certainly a player with some of the key characteristics that I’m looking for. As a former captain of Ilkeston, Matt will bring some leadership to our young squad and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow."

The new man is looking forward to getting started as he says, "I'm looking forward to getting started, the gaffer explained his ambition and how we wants to play.The FA Trophy tomorrow is always a good competition, hopefully we can have a good run for the club and the fans!"
