Carr and Dixon Named Captain & Vice

Lewis Carr and Kyle Dixon have today been announced as Captain and Vice Captain ahead of the 2021/22 PitchingIn Northern Premier League campaign. Both have donned the armband during a successful pre-season for the Holy Blues and will be responsible for conveying Head Coach Tom Shaw's vision on the field of play. Carr (31) and Dixon (26) are two of the more senior professionals in the camp and know what it takes to win games of football at this level. The duo arrived at Trinity from Basford United in the summer and are two individials who are sure to lead by example, setting high standards in the dressing room and on the pitch.

Head Coach, Tom Shaw, paid tribute to the qualities the pair will bring to the dressing room dynamic as the announcement was revealed, "We included the players in the process of choosing our captains and it was a completely unanimous decision for Lewis and Kyle to lead the pack this season. We have a natural leader and somebody who will set standards with how he works in Neal Bishop, but with his coaching responsibilities we felt it was better he continued to lead in his own way."

"Lewis has really impressed me from our first phone call in the summer. He is an articulate, intelligent chap who is very consistent in how he carries himself. He is a top player at the level and earns respect through his performances and he will be an excellent captain, I am sure."

"How Kyle plays is how he is as a man. He is energetic, lively and he is a winner. He will drive us on in midfield this season and he has already shown really smart leadership skills within our young group from day one."

"The two lads have played and enjoyed success at the level for a number of years and I look forward to watching them grow into their roles and push the group to hit its’ maximum."

Carr, who will wear the captain's armband, was incredibly proud to be chosen said,

"Great to be given the privilege of leading such a talented group of young players. Getting to know the boys during pre-season, I can guarantee everyone involved at the club that hard work and dedication will be a minimum throughout the Trinity squad this season. We have many exciting players at the club and this paired with the tactical yet attractive style of play set out by the manager, I believe is a recipe for great things! I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this season.”

And having taken the vice captaincy, Dixon insisted, "It’s an honour to be named Vice Captain, not only by the gaffer and the staff, but also by my fellow teammates. Can’t wait to get going now, bring on Saturday!"
