With keeper Matt Yates (23), Ethan Bojang (19) Isaac Rice (21) Hayden Cann (18) Joe West (22) averaging just over 20.5 years of age the future is bright for this young up and coming group. The addition of left-sided Cogill to the ranks, himself only 24 years of age, is a player Neal Bishop and Damon Parkinson have admired for a while. On the signing Parkinson enthused,

"Dylan is a player I have worked with briefly at Frickley and we are really pleased to be able to get him in. He fits the type of player we are looking to bring in perfectly. Young, hungry but also brings lots of experience having won promotion with Scarborough last year. He is a player we wanted to try and bring in at the start of pre season but have had to be patient. He will add some experience and also give us more options at the back."

Dylan graduated from the youth set up at Huddersfield Town. From the Terriers, he joined Clyde following a successful loan spell. On his departure from the Scottish, and a period without a club recovering from a knee operation that is now behind him, he joined Farsley Celtic, ahead of his move to Scarborough. Signed by their then manager Darren Kelly in 2020, Cogill was an important part of Jonathan Greenings side that gained promotion via the NPL Play-Offs last season. Making 24 starts in all competitions he will be looking to add to that tally this season, with his new club.

Speaking having put pen to paper on a deal with Gainsborough Trinity, Cogill expressed his delight at linking up with Bishop and Parkinson. "After various talks with Damo, Gainsborough seem like a club I can really get on board with. I’ve heard nothing but positive things from people I’ve spoke to about the club and I’m really looking forward to getting started and and hopefully I can kick on."

Dylan's paperwork has been lodged with the league and FA pending ratification. Should the approvals be received in time, he will be considered for selection over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend. Welcome to the club, Dylan!
