Ashley Worsfold hammering past Taylor from Shane Clarke’s cut-back. Workington showed great character - and finished the first half on top, twice Stewart needing to pull off excellent saves to deny Niall Cowperthwaite, before flinging himself full length to keep out Conor Tinnion’s well struck free kick. Trinity got the crucial second on 51, when a deep Alex Byrne cross found Damian Reeves at the back post. His downward header found the inrushing full back Ben Gordon, who was able to steer past an exposed Taylor.

Simon Russell swept home the third after the ball pinballed around the penalty box, and Worsfold made it four before being substituted, profiting from statuesque Workington defending to nudge home from close range, making it fifteen for the season for the front man.

The home side looked to pick off the visitors as the game wore on, but it was Jason Walker, who reduced the arrears for The Reds, when he cut inside from the left and beat Stewart at his near post, with the Trinity defence appealing for offside.
