It was the man Simmons again, who went close for Gainsborough, Norton doing well to beat a Hannah effort away. Hesitantly though, he was ponderous and saw his effort deflected behind for a corner. Simmons then squared for Ashley Worsfold, but the front-man’s finish nestled the wrong side of the upright and Gainsborough went in at the break a goal down, but with the majority of the chances.

Stern words at the break from boss Lee Sinnott, saw Gainsborough fired up and with two goals in two minutes turned the game on it’s head, Hannah exploding into life down the right side, before rolling the ball across the face of goal, for Worsfold to equalise. Two minutes later, Simmons was on the score sheet, curling a sublime right-footed effort past Norton after good play between Branden Horton & Ross Hannah.

Simmons made it 3-1 when he latched onto the ball of the game from Hannah to fire low past Norton at his near post. Hannah was again involved in the build up as he exchanged passes with Neil Austin, before the right back found skipper Shane Clarke in space, Clarke turning brilliantly before slotting a low effort beyond the despairing goalkeeper.
