Southwell, most recently at National League North, Alfreton, will look to add quality and energy to the Trinity front line. A different proposition to Donaldson, but a striker who knows where the back of the net is nonetheless, Bish and Stampy will be hoping that Southwell can have a similar impact, both on and off the pitch. Bish described what the Trinity faithful could expect from the new front man:

"Obviously, Dayle is a fantastic signing. Probably a statement signing. To be honest, I didn't think we would be able to get him through the door. I knew about his qualities, as everyone did. He was a fantastic player in the division above. He played a lot of games for Alfreton who finished at the top end of that division, so I am really surprised that we were able to get him."

Terrier like, Blues boss Neal Bishop, was determined to land his man, as he continued, "Again, he had a lot of options, and good clubs in the division above after him, but he has bought into what we want to do here. We've pushed for him hard, we have spoken to him numerous times and the Board have backed me in getting a deal together for him."

"Like I say, I am delighted to get him on board. He can play anywhere across the front three positions. He is energetic, he's a great character, he'll be good in the dressing room, he'll demand off others. He's a good age and full of energy, which will enable us to press from the front, and he is really just a phenomenal signing for this level. Originally we made a play for him, and were able to persuade him with the vision we have got, for how we want to play football and do things going forwards. To get this done early and on board is a real statement signing and a fantastic piece to the puzzle."

Looking ahead, Southwell explained, "Bish and Stampy had great things to say about the club and where they want the club to go. The ambition of the club is great and the style of football they explained is exactly what I’m looking for. I will look to bring energy up front along with hopefully goals and all round play. Not just on the pitch but off the pitch, hopefully adding more experience to the side and be a voice on and off the field."

Aiming high, Dayle remains ambitious, looking to go the extra yard next season: "My aims for this season are to go that one step further than last year and get promotion and hopefully that comes with personal achievements of scoring and making lots of goals to help this team finish as high as possible!"
