On signing, Declan explained: "This came about quickly, but after speaking to Russ, and knowing what he’s about, I knew the move was right for me. The club hasn’t had the start they’re capable of, but I’m confident Russ will be able to pull the club in the right direction, and I’m going to do everything I can to help that. I’m looking forward to getting started this weekend and meeting everyone associated with the club. See you all Saturday!"

Manager Wilcox expanded: "I didn't really expect it, but opportunities came our way, and we went for it. Dec, who I know well, was on loan at Darlington last year, and I know him from his Cleethorpes days where he scored lots of goals. He'll come in and give us more fire power up front and competition for places in the forward areas."

In his spell at Ilkeston, prior to joining the Holy Blues, Howe made four appearances for the Robins making two starts and appearing from the bench twice, but it was his form in front of goal for Cleethorpes that alerted Billy Heath to the forward's striking talent.

Dec netted 17 goals before Christmas, including scoring a hat trick against Lincoln United and braces against Stamford and Tadcaster in a prolific start to the 2022/23 season, and the Trinity faithful will be hopeful that Howe can add goals to the Gainsborough front line as we look to climb the table, starting with Saturday's home game against Atherton Collieries at the Kal Group Stadium. Welcome to the club Dec!
