Helliwell in for the Holy Blues

Gainsborough Trinity are delighted to announce the second new face of the summer, with the capture of versatile, former Barnsley man Jordan Helliwell. Helliwell joins fellow new recruit, Sisa Tuntulwana, who arrived a month ago from Grantham. The 22 year old was with the Tykes from the age of ten. Whilst with the Yorkshire outfit, he enjoyed spells out on loan at Stalybrdige Celtic and Basford United, either side of a six month spell at Esbjerg fB, in the second division of the Danish professional system.

The spell overseas Jordan believes, "Provided invaluable first-team experience and significantly contributed to my professional growth." As a versatile player, capable of excelling both at right wing-back and in central midfield, Helliwell made his first team debut in the Championship and earned further experience in League One. However, upon leaving the Play-Off Semi-Finalists, Helliwell was sure that the Holy Blues were the correct step in his formative journey:

"When I learned of Gainsborough's interest, it was an easy decision. After speaking with Russ, it was clear that the club's goals and vision perfectly aligned with my own ambitions. This felt like the ideal environment for the next chapter of my career."

Going on to share his ambitions for the upcoming Pitching In Northern Premier League Division campaign, Helliwell added, "For this season, my personal goal is to play as many games as possible while making a contribution to the team's success. Collectively, our objective is to finish as high up the table as possible, with the ultimate aim of achieving promotion. I'm excited about the journey ahead and committed to helping Gainsborough achieve great things!"

Russ Wilcox was equally thrilled with his new addition. Speaking shortly after Jordan put pen to paper, the Trinity boss enthused, "We are delighted to bring Jordan to Gainsborough Trinity. He’s a player I’ve admired for a few years now. We’ve had to fight off competition to get the deal over the line. He will bring quality and versatility to the group. He’s young and hungry to play at the highest level he can, which is the type of player we want at our football club. Welcome to Gainsborough Jordan."
