Due to the make up of the Pitching In Northern Premier League, nearly 50% of the teams in the division play on non-grass based surfaces that can put teams like Trinity at a disadvantage. Therefore the Holy Blues' decision to incorporate a 3G fixture in pre-season could be a shrewd aspect of the season's preparation.

Northern Counties East League Premier, or Step 5 side, Bottesford will once again provide the Holy Blues with the chance to get minutes into the players' legs ahead of the league curtain raiser on Saturday 10th August.

Wilcox will again take the opportunity to cast an eye over a number of trialists as he looks to boost his squad. So far, the Poachers are a game ahead in terms of preparation, but have conceded three times in both games and lost both their games against Brigg Town at home, and away to Louth Town in midweek. The latter by a three goals to nil score-line.

Amongst their squad is Josh Fraiwald, who was developed through the 21s, looking to continue his progress as he climbs the ladder in mixed age football. Again, after little turnaround time, Gainsborough will once again be in action. This time on Tuesday evening. Another (significant) step up in class is expected as Wilcox's men play host to his former employee, Scunthorpe United. For Saturday's game, Bottesford Town have advised that prices for our second friendly are set at £7 adults and £5 concessions. The Barrett Steel Stadium is located on Ontario Road, Scunthorpe, DN17 2TQ (not the previously stated Glebe Road).
