Now a coach and football speaker, Grobbelaar has saved a number of clubs from league relegation and worked as a coach for teams all over the world. Born and raised in South Africa, Grobbelaar played for a number of British teams including a fourteen-year stint at the Reds, as well as at Southampton, Stoke City and Plymouth Argyle. And now, he is coming to Thonock Park, Gainsborough, in the latest After Dinner Event, helping to raise valuable funds for the Holy Blues.
Grobbelaar played as part of the Zimbabwean national team at two FIFA World Cups; however with a career that was dogged by tabloid coverage, libellous allegations and court appearances Bruce Grobbelaar now works almost solely as a football speaker. Before becoming a dedicated football speaker, Bruce Grobbelaar made a number of guest appearances as the goalkeeper on struggling teams or in charity matches, including a rematch of the 1986 FA Cup Final where he was reunited with his old Liverpudlian teammates in a game against Everton.
Despite his success 
as an international sports speaker, Grobbelaar has stated a desire to one day return to Anfield as the manager of the Liverpool team. Until such a time as this, however, Grobbelaar remains one of the most prolific and impressive football speakers from his native South Africa, his vast and eclectic experience as well as his status as one of the most well-travelled players of his era, mark him as one a thoroughly engaging and entertaining sports speaker.
The Event
Headlining our Friday November 1st Speakers’ Evening, he will be supported by comedian Bill Woolland and you can enjoy a delicious carvery in the beautifully decorated Thonock Park. Take part in raffles and bid on a range of auction prizes. Due to the content that may be included in Bruce’s tales from his career, this is an adult only event and is accompanied with a smart dress code. The evening starts at 7pm, with guests encouraged to arrive promptly.

Tickets are priced at £50 per person, with tables of four, six and eight available to buy online.
