During the 2022/23 season, Josiah spent a month on loan at FC United of Manchester, scoring the equaliser in their 4-4 draw with Hyde United, having come off the bench in the 75th minute. Dyer made one appearance for Basford last season, again on loan, but has since been playing regularly for Barnsley's development sides. He faced us during pre-season, impressing with his strength and hold up play and scored the last minute penalty to level the game.

With his physical presence and desire to succeed clearly evident, the Trinity faithful have an exciting proposition on their hands. "Delighted to be here. Big thank you to all involved in the deal, particularly the manager who expressed his desire for me to be here. I enjoyed playing in front of the Gainsborough fans in pre-season and I hope I can continue to impress by putting the ball in the back of the net for them this time!"

He's no stranger to a number of the team either, so he's sure to settle into Trinity blue, quickly: "I’ve known Will, Jordan and Cody for a while now after spending time with them at Barnsley. All three are good guys who I know will make me feel comfortable going into the club."

Sentiments echoed by boss, Russ Wilcox as he welcomed the newest recruit into the fold: "A big thank you to Barnsley FC for allowing Josiah Dyer out on loan. With us losing Dayle Southwell to a knee injury on Tuesday night we had to act quickly to boost the squad."
