Local Centurion Butroid Re-Signs

We can't wait to see what next season brings! There's nothing like starting the Summer with news that the first player to be retained is one of our own. Trinity centurions, Lewis Butroid, who begins his fourth season with the Holy Blues, once again featuring for his hometown club. Last time out, Versatile Butroid, enjoyed his most productive spell in Gainsborough colours, netting a dozen goals in all competitions.

Racking up 51 competitive appearances for Russ Wilcox's men as he helped the Blues to the Second Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup, last sixteen of the Isuzu FA Trophy. His goals a valuable contribution in both runs (netting against Telford, Kettering and Boston). Nearing double figures in terms of assists also, Butty has certainly demonstrated his value to the team, whilst also establishing himself as a firm fan favourite.

Butroid’s emergence is also something for the up and coming youngsters in the town to aspire to. If you are good enough and work hard enough, opportunities will present themselves. Lewis has had to work hard to get to where he has, but he is now a proud Gainsborough Trinity centurion. And will be looking to add plenty more appearances to his tally.

Still only 26 years of age, Butroid revealed "I am really happy to extend my contract for another year with the club. This season has felt like a real breakthrough one for me. Not in terms of playing regularly, as that’s been the case for a while now but more so in terms of performances. I’ve been able to achieve more consistency in the various different roles throughout this year and that has given me a real excitement about kicking on next year and improving again on this season just finished."

Lewis continued, "It has been another positive end to the season as a club and hopefully one we can take into next year and start as we finished. It was a pretty easy decision to stick around when offered a new deal by the club. I love it here and so do my family so we can’t wait to see what next season brings!"

Manager, Russ Wilcox, was obviously delighted that players have already starting committing their future to the club as he enthused. "It is great news that local lad Lewis Butroid has signed for next season. Lewis has had a great season scoring 12 goals and playing numerous positions for us, and the good thing is, he is still hungry to get better and keep on improving!"
