Helliwell admits, “I’ve really enjoyed working with Russ this season. He’s given me some unforgettable moments, and I’m grateful for the trust he showed by giving me the opportunity to play in every game last year. I’m looking forward to continuing into next season with him, pushing to compete at the top end of the table and hopefully achieving even more next season."

As moments go, from his first season – they don’t get much bigger than scoring the equalising goal, to get you back on level terms against your big Lincolnshire rivals, in front of nearly 2,000 fans – at the Kal Group Stadium, or converting the winning penalty in an epic Emirates FA Cup encounter away at Hednesford, to send your side through to the Second Round Proper for the first time in 80 years! Special times indeed.

And boss, Russ Wilcox reiterated, “Jordan Helliwell has been incredible in his first season with us. There’s still development in Jordan. Let’s hope he grows even more next season!” Jordan has covered an incredible distance throughout the season, showing monumental fitness levels. Attributes that have made him an invaluable cog in the Gainsborough Trinity setup. His work-rate, both in and out of possession, linking defence and attack are key components Trinity supporters will be looking to see more of in 2025/26.

Helliwell broke Will Lancaster’s stranglehold on the Player of the Season awards, at the recent presentation night, when he scooped the Directors’ Player of the Season trophy. A testament to his consistency levels, during the season.
