Managed by Andy Butler, Scunthorpe have embarked on a local pre-season tour of Lincolnshire, prior to their short trip to Alfreton, where they recorded a win on Tuesday night. The Iron started their pre-season with a 4-0 win over Bottesford, before a surprise 3-2 defeat to Appleby Frodingham. The game in which former talisman Declan Howe netted his first goal for his hometown club.

After the game against the Holy Blues, Scunthorpe have further friendlies against Skegness Town, Spenymoor Town & Worksop, before their season opener against Tamworth.

The Holy Blues follow the Scunthorpe game, with a game on Wednesday against a Lincoln City XI, hit the road on Saturday (26th) as we travel to Brighouse Town – and wrap up our pre-season preparations on Saturday 2nd August, when we face a Barnsley XI.

Let’s see another good crowd on the Northolme, down at the Kal Group Stadium this Saturday afternoon – and give Russ and the lads our backing. With the sun out, and expectations high, let’s continue to build for the new season in style.
