Since October 2012, Workington and Gainsborough have locked horns five times at Borough Park, three times fhe Holy Blues have been victorious with one win to Workington and one ending all square. Eighteen goals were scored in those fixtures, with an average of 3.6 goals a game! A potential congratulations are in order for the latest member of the squad to rack up a century of appearances for the club. Versatile Ashley Jackson, one of Russ Wilcox's first signings upon arriving at Gainsborough made his 100th appearance in Gainsborough colours, when he came on as a half time substitute at home to FC United of Manchester on Saturday.

In the game at Workington last season, there was great debate over who scored the Trinity goal - and whether it was Ash or Declan Howe. Ask either, they'll both still be claiming it! But in any case - we'll be hoping for plenty more all action - Ashley Jackson showings down the Gainsborough left, as he looks to add to his ton of games for the Blue Army!

Brian Dawson is expected to continue in Caretaker charge of the Reds. Following the departure of Darren Edmondson, Dawson again took up the reins, in similar fashion to when Mark Fell left the Cumbrians towards rhe back end of last season. His first game in charge was the 2-0 defeat away at Morpeth. A result that sees Tuesday night's opponents seven points from safety after twelve games, with a negative fifteen goal difference.

0.67 goals a game scored, as opposed to 1.92 conceded, has made winning games of football difficult for Workington. Although they have picked up an away win at Bamber Bridge, they've also drawn three games including matches against. FC United of Manchester (0-0) Ashton United (1-1) and Prescot Cables (also 1-1). A win for Trinity could see Wilcox's men climb as high as fourth, and potentially close the gap on Saturday's victors, but that will depend on whether United can overcome.a Rushall Olympic side, buoyed by a first win in seven. When the Pics overcame Cleethorpes Town, on Saturday.

But lets see where we are at half past nine, quarter to ten and as we can then look ahead to Saturday's Isuzu FA Trophy clash, against Redditch United - and another break - from the bread and butter of thr league. Safe travels to everybody making the trip to Workington on Tuesday evening. The support and backing you have given Russ and the boys so far this campaign, has certainly not gone unnoticed - and I am sure they will take great heart in seeing you there, backing them loudly - as ever!

Fixture Update

Next Tuesday's (28/10/25) home game against Leek Town has been cancelled, to help Russ, KP and the team prepare ahead of the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper, at home to Accrington Stanley. Sunday's Emirates FA Cup is scheduled for 5.15pm on the 2nd November. Following the cup fixture, its been agreed with our hosts Morpeth Town to push back by 24 hours, now scheduled for Wednesday 5th November, 72 hours after the Blues' televised cup competition.

It's certainly a fluid schedule at the moment - which would be set to change again - should Trinity beat Redditch on Saturday! Here's hoping for more fixture upheaval, as the Holy Blues continue to compete on all three fronts!
