MATCH OFF! MATCH OFF! MATCH OFF! Today's game at Whitby Town has failed an 8:30am pitch inspection. The pitch is waterlogged, deeming the pitch unplayable. In form Gainsborough Trinity head to the east coast on Saturday, to take on Gary Liddle's Whitby Town at the Towbar Express Stadium. With the current forecast - it might well be a wet and wild Whitby that awaits the Holy Blues - but we remain hopeful that a strong wind will dry out the Turnbull Ground's playing surface. We will be mindful to keep you up to date across our Social Media channels of any late changes to plan.

Whitby won their last game at home, winning 1-0 against Ilkeston, but have lost their last two away games. Their most recent loss, by three goals to one, away at the new league leader's Hebburn Town.

Now sitting twelfth, five points behind Russ Wilcox's men & having played four more games, the Holy Blues will be hoping to extend the gap between the sides, with a third straight victory in 2026.

In their midweek defeat to Hebburn, Whitby were without experienced 'keeper Shane Bland through injury. He was replaced between the sticks by former Lincoln City youngster, and current Sunderland youth team stopper, Isaac Allan. He's already played against Trinity, in the away game at Morpeth.

The Seasiders had led at the break, on Tuesday night. But Gary Martin levelled things in the first minute of the second half, before adding a second from the spot. Kian Foreman made the points safe for Hebburn, eleven minutes from time.

While Whitby were being dispatched by the new table toppers, under the watchful eye of Russ Wilcox, Trinity were enjoying an evening without a fixture. Prior to the schedule well and truly bursting into life, on Saturday. Including the trip to the Towbar Express Stadium, Wilcox's men embark on seven games in 21 days. Four of those matches away from home: Bamber Bridge, Leek Town & Ashton United

It promises to be an intensive period, but one they Blues will be looking to pick up as many points from as possible, targeting the sides just above in the promotion places. Only Trinity & Hebburn have six points from six in the last two with Warrington Town, Prescot & bottom side Workington the only sides undefeated in three! It's an incredibly tight division- with a lot of football still to be played!

Previous Meetings

Eleven wins in the last fourteen, including eight clean sheets, will have Trinity full of confidence, but it's on the day, that Wilcox's boys will need to be at it! Hopefully, this week's birthday boys: George Hornshaw & David Robson, will have further reason to celebrate, come 5pm on Saturday!

Coach Travel

Darren Gray & the Official GTFC Travel club have around five spaces on the bus to Whitby on Saturday. Leaving Blues Club at 10.45 & costing £17 a seat - why not take the stress and strain out of driving yourself and finding somewhere to park? Let the coach take the strain!
