The forward, who has seen service at Boston United, Stamford & Kings Lynn, Spalding United, Tamworth & Brackley, as well as the aforementioned Grantham, will provide a physical foil for Declan Bacon & Ross Hannah with Curtis Woodhouse enthusing,

"I am really happy to get Gregg into the football club. He is a player the Gainsborough fans will know all about, having seen him in action for Boston. He will give us a different dimension and will really help to free up Dec & Ross. Gregg is a natural leader and a real positive in both boxes. I see Smith playing a vital role in our survival."

And the striker can't hide his delight at signing stating,

“I can't wait to get started. I'm buzzing to work with the gaffa, I've come to a big club and am looking forward to it. I just want to score as many goals as I can and help the club be where it should be." Smith previously described himself as “A horrible, horrible centre forward. I love to give defenders a horrible afternoon, I think I am quite a unique footballer. I love scoring goals, but I also like to go out and bully people, kick defenders and generally give them a difficult time. I think those qualities will mean I can be useful to the manager.”

If he can bring those qualities to the front line, then I am sure he will be quickly taken to the hearts of the Trinity faithful. Welcome to the club Gregg, here’s hoping you hit the ground running.
