Converted to a wing back in the last campaign, from his more common position in the centre of midfield, Blues' boss Curtis Woodhouse has seen enough in his new recruit to identify his strengths, "I am delighted to get Matty Dixon to Gainsborough Trinity, a player I’ve known about and liked for some time that has a lot of the attributes that will suit us."

Woodhouse went on to state, "Matty was outstanding last season for Whitby and will be a really good addition for us moving forward."

We are grateful to Whitby for wavering the seven day notice period and allowing us to get Matty in, ahead of this weekend's friendly with Grimsby Borough. We hope to catch up with the new recruit in due course, but for now, he had this to say: "I am delighted to sign for Gainsborough permanently, having had a loan spell here before I know what a good club it is both on and off the pitch. I have a lot more experience now so hopefully I can add some more quality to the good team that is already here and we can have a successful season."

Welcome back to Gainsborough Dicko! Here's to a successful season!
