Trinity's Festive Fixtures Postponed

Gainsborough Trinity's wait for a return to competitive action continues into the New Year following the latest government advice and a relaxation in the pressures being put on clubs by the Pitching In Northern Premier League. We have now moved to mutually postpone our fixtures, at home to Grantham Town on Boxing Day and away at Matlock Town on New Years Day, as ourselves and both sets of opposing officials are of the firm belief that no club should be forced to play fixtures at a loss.

Due to the current nature of the Tier system in operation and with both Lincolnshire and Derbyshire currently in Tier 3, a maximum of 300 supporters can attend fixtures in the NPL. At a time when attendances are regularly boosted over the festive period. This looked impossible in the current situation. Everyone is keen for a return to football, when the time is right.

For now, the health, safety and welfare of our supporters, players, officals and volunteers is our paramount concern. In relation to this, the safeguarding of and survival of our three football clubs is too - we hope that supporters of the Holy Blues, Gingerbreads and Gladiators understand these principles - and we look forward to locking horns with you at some stage in 2021.
