Curran fits the profile of player that the Holy Blues are looking to build with, young and hungry and with a desire to improve and play at the highest level possible. Despite dropping into non-league football, Jock will be determined to use Trinity as a launch pad for his career. Previous loan spells at Lincoln United and Spalding United have given Jock exposure to the PitchingIn Northern Premier League set up, and he comes in under no illusions as to what he needs to do to push Gainsborough up the league.

"I am delighted to join Trinity and can’t wait to get started. We’ve a great bunch of lads here and play some good attacking football, I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans and winning football matches!"

Equally happy breaking up opposition moves, to surging through the middle of the park, or keeping the ball ticking over, Jock is an all-round midfielder, who will only continue to grow and develop alongside the experienced senior pros that play in the same position, players like Neal Bishop and Kyle Dixon.

And Tom Shaw has been impressed with his application, both in training and in matches, explaining:

"Jock has been with us since the beginning of pre-season and thoroughly deserves this opportunity. He is a rangy, intelligent, all-rounder type of midfielder. He regains the ball well, has shown a really high level of tactical understanding and we feel he has good physical potential."

"His challenge now is to push the more senior midfield players in the group to go ahead of them or to be alongside them in our midfield shape. He joins us with having enjoyed a good education and experience as a young professional at Grimsby and has played games at the level with his loan opportunities."
