The National League North outfit, in recent times, have provided us with a good number of players that have pulled on the shirt. In the current Trinity squad, there is Curtis Morrison, who signed earlier this week and netted in midweek. Other notable names to have trodden the path between the sides in recent times are Gavin Rothery, goalkeeper Joe Green and the marauding Viking, Kingsley James, to name but a few.

Like ourselves, they saw the 2020/21 curtailed. Having played 15 games, they were in 20th position on twelve points, with three wins and three draws. Scoring 17 and conceding 22, games involving The Lions were generally close contests. Trinity’s season finishing after eight games, in which we had accumulated the same number of points, with a plus one goal difference.

Guiseley are expected to provide the stiffest test of the pre-season campaign, managed by Paul Clayton and Russ O’Neill, having got their pre-season off to a flyer with a 0-7 win over Ilkley Town, before beating Yorkshire Amateur, scoring three with no reply on the road again. An Everton U23’s side despatched Guiseley at Nethermoor Park before Bradford City secured a narrower victory, winning by two goals to one.

Shaw insists, "Guiseley is the perfect fixture for us as we continue to build and progress. I think it will be our toughest fixture in preseason and I expect us to have some spells where we find it difficult. We have given the players their hardest physical week and they covered some big distances against Yaxley and Lincoln City, so I am looking forward to seeing how we perform and how consistent we can be with our concentration and commitment."

He continued, "To be in the position we are personnel wise, tactically and physically from where we started, I am delighted. I thought in periods on Wednesday night we showed what we are capable of and executed our style really well, the second goal was as good as you will see in terms of beating a high press. Saturday will be tough, against some good players and two of my previous managers, who I have a lot of respect for, but having worked with the players for nearly a month now, I am confident we will put on another positive performance."

So get yourselves down to the ground, 3pm kick off on Saturday 24th August. Come along and make your voices heard! As always, we look forward to seeing you. Purely pay on the gate for this one.
