On the signing, the new blue enthused, "I've been training with Gainsborough for a few weeks now and I’ve really enjoyed it. I feel like I can fit in well with the lads and go on to have a successful season as a team. I had a few offers from other clubs but after speaking to the gaffer, I felt Gainsborough was the best place for me to come and play and progress in my career. I’ve played in three games in pre-season and scored 2 and I’m looking to take that form and confidence into the league and FA Cup and try and help win some games for the football club."

The 22-year-old winger, who spent five years in the youth set up at Derby and further time with Barnsley dropped into non-league football after a nasty accident curtailed a promising full time career. Spells at clubs in and around the Derbyshire area at Ilkeston and Matlock Town didn’t provide the platform the youngster was looking for to springboard him back into action. A move to Barwell promised that opportunity but COVID struck and scuppered those plans.

Fit and hungry, Morris reported for pre-season training, and with a point to prove, the tricky forward certainly hit the ground running. Minutes in all of our pre-season games to date, on the wings, in the ten, have certainly seen the forward catch the eye. Now having signed for the season, Ben will be looking to continue that form into the season proper, which is fast approaching.

Shaw outlined what Morris has brought to the squad in recent weeks, "Ben has been in with us for a few weeks and without doubt deserves this opportunity. He has shown energy and aggression without the ball and some moments of real quality when he has been in possession, including two excellent finishes at Yaxley and against Lincoln City. He wants to better himself and further his career and his ambition to improve will hopefully give Ben an edge to his performances."

The Head Coach continued, "We have some really talented attacking options in the group now with two more to add in the coming days, the players will have to be at the top of their game to fight to get in the line-up. Ben will give us something different in the layer behind our forward line and I think he is definitely capable of adding a good number of goals and assists this coming season."

Aggressive, tireless running between the lines is a feature of Ben’s play. His all action style is sure to be a hit with the Trinity faithful, not to mention his ability to chip in with crucial goals and assists. Welcome to the club Ben! The real adventure starts now!
