Monday Night Preview: Nantwich Town

The Holy Blues prepare for the trip to Cheshire, to face Nantwich Town in the PitchingIn Northern Premier League, kick off at 7.45pm on Tuesday evening. A game that has already twice been rescheduled as floodlight failure and a waterlogged pitch have so far conspired against the two sides locking horns. While Trinity were playing out a 1-1 draw at Witton Albion on Saturday, Dabbers' boss Dave Cooke was in attendance, taking in the action involving three of his former chargers and his team's next opponents, Nantwich having to sit out the weekend following the postponement of their game away at Stalybridge Celtic.

Tom Shaw's side go into the game on Tuesday evening, unbeaten in five, a sequence that has seen the side draw four games by the same one all score line, two of those draws at home, the other two on the road as the Holy Blues have really looked to tighten up at the back. The Dabbers though, never know they're beaten until the final whistle. Last time out they drew 2-2 away at Stafford Rangers, despite trailing 2-0 with nine to play.

In ten home games, Dave Cooke's side have recorded one win and two draws in the league, and this is something Shaw and his side will be looking to capitalise on as we look to climb the table. The Dabbers last tasting NPL victory at The Weaver Stadium back on the opening day, when they defeated a Stalybridge side with former Trinity man Stephen Brogan on the mark for the Celts.

Improved away performances have not yet been enough to lift the Holy Blues off the foot of the away league table, having only picked up one win and three draws from twelve games, Shaw will be determined to secure all three points as he conducts a pre-game head count following the after effects of the Witton Albion battle - and impact of the playing surface on an already depleted squad.

Games between the sides have historically been tight affairs, and with how both teams like to play the game, this looks set to be an enjoyable encounter from a neutral perspective, despite the home and away teams struggling for form at home and away, respectively. Last time the Holy Blues strung a 1-1 drawing streak together was back in the 1999-2000 season, Trinity picking up five draws on the bounce against Barrow, Leigh, Whitby, Blyth and Stalybridge.
