Currently working towards his UEFA B badge, Gavin gave an insight into why he opted for the Northolme as his next destination. "After speaking with Bish and Damo, and from my own research last season..." from his own admission, he's a bit of a football nerd, " I am really looking forward to working with Yatesy… I will be looking to build on the tremendous season he had last year. Everything I’ve heard and seen is all positive, so he’s going to be like a member of my family for this next season. I will be here for him for whatever he needs - as well as pushing him on even further!"

Handed his first coaching role by former boss Dave Frecklington, having played for the now Basford United assistant, the 'keeper coach is a firm believer in a dressing room that smiles together, wins together,

"I’ll certainly get that changing room bouncing and ensure the lads are such a tight bunch and bond. I am a massive believer in if you have a tight changing room, it is worth plenty of points before we even kick a ball."

From a playing perspective, Sax started playing for his home village club, Clipstone Welfare. From there, he gained a move to Tamworth, before joining Alfreton for a three-year spell. During that time, The Reds climbed from the NECL through to the Conference North.

At Alfreton Gavin worked under Lee Butler, the current goalkeeping coach at Wrexham. Playing the majority of his football in the Northern Premier League, with spells at Matlock, Gresley, Shepshed and Lincoln United, Sax represented Great Britain Universities and Colleges for two years, taking in tours to both Trinidad and Italy.

Join us in welcoming Gavin to the Gainsborough Trinity family. Here's hoping he enjoys a successful season with the Holy Blues. Don't forget, Early Bird Season Tickets are still on offer until the end of June, click here
